Also, it would be great if it could view a few other common file formats such as. It is also missing the ability to show videos or play play audio comments with pictures (an essential feature for us old timers who've gotten used to record audio notes and background sounds with pictures). You can't browse a folder to select which one to view - you need to enter into a folder using the Windows Explorer file picker and simply view each file in sequence after that and if you get out, the application quits. With all its great features, it is missing a few that would make this the killer viewer app. It's unique on-the fly auto correction feature is amazing for viewing less than perfect but otherwise properly taken pictures, in many cases saving you the trouble of editing them.
I'm amazed I hadn't seen this one before! But to be fair, I've only recently started to look in alternative viewers after having used ThumbsPlus and Total Commander for decades.īlazingly fast, powerful commands, supremely configurable, truly portable in Global Configuration Mode (why isn't all software free from the tyranny of Registry Lock-In and the mess of files they leave all around the system), easy to learn.
My question is, do you know of any other light weight, simple image viewer that would meet my criteria? It needs to be able to run on latest Mac OS.The Most Promising Viewer I've tested so far, and I've tested a dozen or so. I don't mind paying but I already paid for FastRawViewer so not too keen on paying for another app that does very similar things. I also like that it closes when you hit ESC after viewing the image and app is not running in the background. Lyn - It's the best I could find so far except it's strange that it loads RAF files much faster than jpeg's when skipping through the images. QView - would of been perfect, but it didn't support viewing any RAW files. Xee3 - would of been perfect, but it didn't support viewing RAF files.
XnView XP - very similar to FastStone but there is no zoom option with the scroll well.
Mac OS build in Preview - would be perfect if it would go to the next image in the folder without having to select them before hand. I couldn't find single app for the Mac yet that would meet my criteria.
Open jpeg or raw (RAF for me) file in full screen view when you double click on it.What I want from the image viewer is these simple things:
I bought FastRawViewer for culling when I import my photos from SD card and it works great for that, but it's not that great for simple fast image view and doesn't support zooming with the mouse well. And I can't find similar app for a Mac since FastStone is Windows only. I got used to FastStone image viewer on Windows for viewing my pictures for it's simplicity (although it has a lot of features) and speed. I was exclusive Windows user since I started using computers and just few months ago switched to the Mac for personal use.
